About

Past, Present & Future

Since graduating with a degree in Psychology from Rutgers University in 2007, Lauren has dedicated her professional life to serving families affected by autism and related disabilities. In the past five years, she’s collaborated with a multitude of professionals and organizations while providing home, community and center-based therapies for children, adolescents and adults with special needs. These experiences have provided her with extensive training and supervised application of a variety of empirically sound therapies practiced in interdisciplinary settings with a focus in Applied Behavioral Analysis and autism spectrum disorders.

In 2009, Lauren partnered with Alliance Colorado, an organization that advocates for Colorado’s developmentally disabled population at the state level. This opportunity allowed her to collaborate with Colorado’s lawmakers while providing specialized insight to the needs of families affected by autism. As a lobbyist, Lauren was exposed to the lofty barriers that encompass our legislative system, that inhibit families from gaining access to the support they so desperately need and deserve. It was though this experience that she became inspired to further pursue her education in the field with hopes of one day breaking down those barriers.

In 2010, Lauren graduated with a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado and founded Garden, an organization that provides therapeutic and educational services to families affected by autism spectrum disorders. Garden’s purpose is to support, empower and advocate on behalf of every family served. In 2011, the organization was able to support over 30 families while providing over 100 hours of home and community-based interventions at no cost to the family. Everyday, through insurmountable passion and action, Garden plants the seeds that inspire sustainable growth within every family served.

As Garden grows, Lauren’s dreams grow. Recently, she was elected to serve on the board of executives of Colorado’s Coalition of Autism Professionals (COCAP). This opportunity has allowed her to provide leadership through the support and education of hundreds of field professionals throughout Colorado. Both Garden and COCAP have given Lauren the platform to spark not only an interest, but also a passion within others so that a true and sustainable difference can be made in the lives of those who deserve it the most. It is through this platform that she is able to work towards her dream: A day where both families and professionals have unlimited access to high-quality resources that embody both ethical and clinical integrity. Lauren believes this is the first step in the journey to achieving a higher quality of life for every child and family affected by autism spectrum disorders.
